The best time to visit an outlet mall

Outlet savings follow a predictable calendar. Choosing the right week matters more than choosing the right center.

Best months

January and July are the strongest months for genuine clearance, because centers are clearing end-of-season stock rather than running a promotional event.

The four big storewide weekends are Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Black Friday. Discounts are wide but the centers are crowded and size runs break fast.

Best days and hours

Tuesday and Wednesday mornings are the sweet spot: fresh markdowns, restocked clearance racks and staff with time to tell you what has just been reduced.

Arrive within the first hour of opening. Clearance sections are tidied and restocked overnight, so the first shoppers get the complete size run.

Avoid 12:00 to 14:30 if you can. Food courts and fitting rooms peak, and the whole center slows down.
